God is good

Weekly update banner.png

Dear church family,

Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love endures forever!

This is the refrain of God's people through the Old Testament. In the psalms, particularly Psalm 136, these verses are used as a call and response in worship. When the people of God carried the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem in David's day, among the throng of worshippers and amidst the joyous celebrations these words were proclaimed by those leading the worship. Today we often use the phrase 'God is good… all the time… and all the time… God is good!' We need reminding of the goodness of God in every season of life, and to give thanks for all he has done.

What are you thankful for today? What is your testimony of God's goodness to you this week? As a church family, we have much to be thankful for, particularly the amazing offering that we took up in worship to God at our gift day on the 24th September. The total of the offering to date is £49,400 including pledges. We expect that with gift aid that will total around £60,000. This enables us to do all the work we need to do on the mezzanine, including purchasing chairs and making necessary adjustments to the sound, lighting and visuals. We praise God for his generosity to us, expressed through his people.

We are finalising the paperwork for the mezzanine this week. Please pray for Keith as he oversees the project and for all the various parts of the plan - that it will all come together well and in a timely way. We will update you with more information when we know the expected timescale for the project but we hope to get the work done as soon as possible.

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;

    let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come before him with thanksgiving

    and extol him with music and song.

Come, let us bow down in worship,

    let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;

for he is our God

    and we are the people of his pasture,

    the flock under his care.

Psalm 95:1-2, 6-7 (NIV)

With much love,

Mark

Givaudan 10K Road Race - Please arrive at 9/9:15am (Road closes 9:30)
Sunday 8th October 2023
Last year we set up a 'Hype' station outside the church. This was a fantastic opportunity for us to be out there with our community supporting a local event (not to mention supporting runners from the church!) We provided water, sweets, music and most importantly, supporting the runners as they came up the hill with lots of encouragement! We had so many appreciative comments from runners last year and we will be supporting them again this year.
