Greetings from Romania

Dear church family

This week six of us from WBC have had the privilege visiting Danny and Sarah in Carand helping with their work in the local community. We have had an incredible time serving, learning and growing, doing many different tasks from collecting wood from the local forest, building a fire wall in the church, painting furniture, and Alistair has used his sign writing skills, painting a bible verse on the church wall.

This translates as "You are loved beyond measure" - Romans 8:38-39.
It has certainly been a challenge for me to see how this small local church love their community without any judgement reminding me of the Good Samaritan parable, Luke 10:25-37. In this story the Samaritan didn't just show a monetary act of kindness at the roadside, he went beyond that showing love 'beyond measure' by paying for the man's stay and ensuring his care. The local church here regularly show the same kind of love: consistently and selflessly helping those in need regardless of how they are viewed by others. Today, Thursday was a perfect example, we spent the day building a store and splitting logs for a man in the village who has no support.

Despite how the village might view him, the church continue to show God's love, grace and mercy not based on his worthiness or acceptance in society, but out of a deep commitment to love like Jesus. What a huge witness to him and all those who see the church in action.
As you read this we will be preparing to leave this beautiful community as we come to the end of our trip. We have been challenged, stretched, changed and loved by these wonderful people and as we return to our local community and slip back to the norm I hope and pray that we will look for ways we can show God's love, grace and mercy to those we know who perhaps do not fit in, or are not accepted by society, or those who are lonely or are without support, and my pray is that you will join us in shining His love to those around us. In Matthew Jesus said "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'

When you see us please take time to ask any of us about the trip, as we would love to share how wonderful it has been. And listen out for when we plan to visit again.
