Refresh others

Weekly update banner.png

Dear church family,

Proverbs 11:25 – A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

As we approach our first Willesborough Community pop-up event, it brings to mind summer fun and refreshment, kicking back and letting some of the tension drain away as we start to slow down for Summer. With these events, we are looking to share with our communities from the richness of our church family. Izzy wrote last week about loving, honouring and encouraging each other and if we seek to do that with our nearest and dearest, it stands to reason that there will be overflow to others.

What I love about small children is that they just get stuck in playing, regardless of whether they have known each other for a while or if they have only just met. Likewise, we are called to be like small children (Mark 10:15) and being available to have fun and serve others is one way to do this. There are plenty of opportunities this summer to extend refreshment to those outside of our established circles. Proverbs tells us that if we need refreshment, seek to refresh others. That is a great biblical principle that whatever we would have for ourselves, we should give away. If we encourage others, we will ourselves be encouraged; if we seek to refresh others; we will ourselves be refreshed. If you are taking a staycation this year, could you and your family spare a couple of hours on a Wednesday morning to wander over to Brabourne Baptist church for a coffee and chat? You would most certainly bless the community there and you may just come away with a blessing for yourself.

Summer blessings to you and yours,

Paula x

SUMMER OASIS We have an opportunity over the summer to help Brabourne to love their community! Many of you know that each Wednesday they run a cafe called 'Oasis' between 10am and 12noon. Every Wednesday in August we are going to be doing things sightly differently whereby we will have some food to giveaway there from Fareshare, crafts and toys available for families, as well as the usual people who go along - creating an intergenerational event which will be really excellent! If you are free on any of the Wednesdays and fancy popping along - we would love to see you!

KIDS MINISTRY TEAM TRAINING If you're part of the Kids Ministry Team (Firestarters or Sparks) in any capacity or if you're thinking of getting involved and want to find out more about what we do, we would love to invite you along to some training we are having on the 3rd August from 9-1 at church!

We'll be learning more about why kids ministry is important, having some specific training from both within and outside our church family, having fun together and praying for our kids! We will also be coming up together with the three truths that we want each child to be able to say with certainty about God before they leave us to go up to Blaze...!

If you're coming along, please do let Izzy (ejhirst47@hotmail.com) know so that we know for printing resources etc - thank you and see you there! xxxxx
