Give thanks to the LORD
Dear church family
'Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good. His love endures forever!' (Psalm 136)
It is important for us to take time to give thanks to God for all He has done and is doing. This coming Thursday we have our AGM (what we like to call our Annual Gratitude Meeting). This is where we meet and give thanks for all God has done over the last year in our church. We also make important decisions such as affirming elders, welcoming new members and electing new trustees.
Meetings such as the AGM and church meetings are important for our life as a church. When you become a member or get baptised (you automatically become a member when you get baptised when you are 18 or over), you get a say in how we run our church and what we do. The key decisions we make are at church meetings, so to know what these decisions are and have a say in them means coming along to the meetings. As you may have heard us say before, we are a theocracy; we believe that all Christians can hear from God and should have an input (on what they believe God is saying) into our church life. We are one body with many parts (1 Cor. 12) and we need every part working together to be a whole and functioning body. If you are a member of our church that means God has called you to speak into our life and contribute what you are discerning God is saying.
I know that people are often reluctant to give up an evening, but it is a privilege to have a say in key decisions. I always enjoy church meetings because we get to celebrate what God has done and listen to Him for what He wants to do. Being together is such a joy and our hope is that our church meetings are an act of worship as much as a Sunday morning is (it just looks a bit different).
Please prioritise joining us either in person or online and if you want to become a member please get in touch!
Lots of love,
Katie
