News from the AGM

Dear church family

'Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another'  (Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV)

What a great evening we shared together at our Annual Gratitude Meeting last night.  I know for myself that the snacks went down very well!  There was a fantastic party atmosphere as we celebrated the key moments from the past year, appointed trustees, affirmed elders and completed more essential business as one body, discerning the will of Christ together.

With joy we welcomed the following new members: Rodica Lapuste, Tai and Foluke Adegboyega, Daniel Allen, Chatelle Chitaka, Josh Houghton, Florence Kirabo, Grace Kiwanuka, Josh Shanmugam and Grace Williams.
We are delighted that Ben Smith and Matthew Woodhill were elected to serve as trustees alongside the existing team.  Josh Shanmugam was affirmed as Acting Treasurer and will be co-opted to work alongside the trustees until next AGM when he will stand for election as Treasurer.

We are equally delighted that Ben Smith and Bret Mtengwa were affirmed as elders and that Kelly Boylan was co-opted as elder along with Jerry Newson.  Jerry will also be co-opted as a trustee for this year bringing his knowledge and perspective from our brothers and sisters at Brabourne as we take the next crucial steps forward in the partnership.
We are also grateful that the following deacons were affirmed to serve a further year: Anne Casse, Preston Chalk, Ian Johnson, Sonya Perks, Matthew Woodhill.

At this time, God has called some into a new adventure out of official church leadership and so it is with some regret and with a whole bucket full of gratitude that we acknowledged that Roger Whiteley has stepped down from eldership after 22 years! Christine Ross has stepped down as treasurer and Rachel Oliver has stepped down as deacon and Love Willesborough lead.

Paula Verlinden and Ben Oliver have both stepped down as trustees but remain as elders.  Monima Harrison has decided to step away from eldership after being co-opted last year and has chosen to dedicate his time and skills to being a trustee.

We thank and praise God that we are so blessed with such talented God-chasers across our whole leadership team, both past and present, who sacrificially seek to discern the will of God for our church and then to walk boldly into wherever He leads. Please do continue to regularly pray for and encourage our leaders because we would not have a church without those who give so much of their time, love and energy serving God through serving us and our community so faithfully.  Every single one of our leaders display the servant heart of Jesus when leadership looks like unblocking drains, cleaning toilets, clearing away empty cups and chairs, sweeping and mopping floors, stepping into rota gaps and the list goes on.

What an incredible night of fellowship and fun!  With that in mind, we have another opportunity on Thursday 21st November to worship and pray together with our church family at Brabourne as we join together for Re-awakening prayers.  This will be at Brabourne Baptist Church at 7pm.  Please do come along as we worship together and seek God's face prophetically and prayerfully.

Have a blessed week!

With much love

Paula x
